The first to believe in piadinas
Artisan products on a big scale
Emmegi is a foodstuff firm specializing in typical products from Italy’s Romagna region. It was one of the first
firms to believe that an artisan product such as fresh piadina, which up until ten years ago was hand-made in
numerous homes in the Italy’s Romagna region, could be produced and distributed on a large scale. Firmly convinced
of this, the company launched an investment plan enabling it to suitably equip its premises to achieve a great
objective: supplying a vast market with “pre-cooked” piadina, ready for eating after a few seconds’ heating.
The immediate market feedback fully confirmed the validity of the original idea, so much so that nowadays the production
workshops are able to turn out 100,000 piadinas and 20,000 casciones a day (the cascione is basically a piadina folded
in half to hold a variety of fillings before being cooked).
